"I love having Bobbie as my midwife. Thanks to her, I had a great experience with my first two births. She made me feel very comfortable. Bobbie is sympathetic and gentle, and she takes time to listen to your questions or concerns. I had no previous experience with midwives, and now I look forward to sharing the birth of my third child with her. I like the natural approach, and having Bobbie with me will be such a nice welcome for my new baby. She’s part of the family."

OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH GOODALL HOSPITAL

Goodall Hospital has been serving the Greater Sanford area for more than 70 years. The Center for Women’s Health has been affiliated with Goodall since we first opened in Sanford, back in the mid-1970s. The obstetric services at Goodall are top quality. The new Birthing Center combines state-of-the-art medical facilities with a homey environment that is comfortable for mother, baby and family. The maternity nurses have forged strong, long-standing relationships with CFWH doctors, creating a partnership that benefits patients.

Read on to see what doctors, staff and patients are saying about birthcare at Goodall Hospital.

“I’ve had all three of my children here at the Goodall Hospital Birthing Center. I love it. It feels right—cozy and comfortable, just a good atmosphere. I love the fact that I can stay in one room, from labor through delivery and recovery. The nursing care is thorough and attentive. They really anticipate your needs. I would have a fourth child just to come here again! I can’t imagine having my children anywhere else.”

— Lynn Signore

“In my career, I’ve gone from delivering in operating rooms to warm, comfortable rooms like this. Labor, delivery and recovery are all in one place, which is much less stressful on the patient. The family can be present and even stay over, so the family unit is encouraged from the beginning. The Birthing Center is as close as you can get to having your baby at home, yet still have top-notch staff and equipment on-hand. It makes birthing a comfortable experience for the entire family.”

— Dr. Cathy Miele

“We have a great working relationship with the doctors from the Center for Women’s Health. The doctors treat us like equals and respect our judgement. We are a team. We are in constant communication, and whatever needs arise, we work to meet them together. Many of us have worked together for years. I think this gives the patients confidence. They see the teamwork and the trust that come from mutual respect and experience.”

— Linda Leck, labor and delivery nurse, Goodall Hospital Birthing Center

SPECIAL SERVICES

Incontinence Treatment

Many women experience problems with urinary incontinence, or loss of bladder control, during their lifetimes. Many treatment options are available. These range from behavior therapy to medication and exercises. In some cases, surgery may be the solution, and we can provide that service if needed. If you suffer from incontinence, we can help.

Gynecological Surgery

Our physicians keep up to date with the latest approaches in surgical treatments. Some of our surgeries can be performed in the office; others may require a day-long hospital stay. Among our latest offerings is thermal ablation, a surgical procedure which can help women suffering from excessive uterine bleeding avoid a hysterectomy. Whatever your needs, we will ensure you receive the most progressive treatment available.

Midwifery

Many women enjoy having a midwife provide their gynecological and obstetrical care and we have midwives on staff. Today’s midwives are highly skilled health professionals who are certified in midwifery. They can provide care for women throughout pregnancy and delivery, and offer well-woman care such as annual exams.
